Leading A Happy Life

Leading A Happy Life

Posted by ZAAHARA .COM on

We have established that happiness and joy is an integral part of life. It is what carries us through it all : the ups and the downs, with the help and guidance of Allah (s.w.t). But what can actually bring about happiness in our lives?

  1. A life lived for the sake of Allah (s.w.t)

“Those who have believed and whose hearts are assured by the remembrance of Allah. Unquestionably, by the remembrance of Allah hearts are assured.” (13:28, The Holy Quran)

First and absolutely foremost, in order to have a happy life : you need to be submit yourself to Allah (s.w.t). He is the Creator of all. He has made us to worship Him. He has made us to learn from our mistakes and to be better for the sake of Allah (s.w.t).

Everything that we do in the life has to have a firm intention of being for the sake of Allah (s.w.t). Living for Allah (s.w.t). This means to engage is acts of worship that devote yourself to Him.

The reason why this is so important is that by this devotion, you are showing you appreciation and love to the One who has created you.

The One who breathed life into you and has given you all that you have. From the clothes on your back to your beating heart.

He has given it all to us. And a life in remembrance and a life, where the main goal, is to please Allah (s.w.t) is a life that will bless you with contentment.

Even in the darkest hours, you find happiness and contentment when you life a life for the sake of Allah (s.w.t)

  1. Prayer

In continuation from the first point. With devotion and living a life for the sake of Allah (s.w.t), in order to show that devotion and to reciprocate that love : you need to follow His commands. You need to learn from the Quran and from the Sunnah. You need to pray.

“O you who have have believed, seek help through patience and prayer. Indeed Allah is with the patient” (2:153, The Holy Quran).

Taking time and effort to speak to Allah (s.w.t) should be a priority to all of us. Because through prayer, our worries start to fade away. The anxiety of the dunya starts to fade away and all that is left is ease in our hearts. Warmth and serenity in our souls.

This is the power of prayer and all that prayer can accomplish. And with a clear, calm head and a soothed soul : you are able to find happiness in everything.

  1. Family and Friends

The ones that support us and are with us through the thick and the thin deserve our appreciation as well. This is referring to those that are closest to you : your friends and family.

The people that are willing to do anything and everything for you. The ones that are willing to put time and effort of you are the people that will make you the happiest.

Not only that, but making them a large part of your life and increasing their value and significance is your life will make you happy too. Because by right, if you love your family and friends then by seeing them happy; it will give you joy as well.

  1. Overall Health

Our health is a huge part of our life. How we feel in the inside will reflect on the outside. Health refers to mental and physical health. Your general and holistic well-being is what will help you gain happiness in everything (from the good to the bad).

When you are well in your mind, body and soul, then you will find it easier to discover happiness. And you will unexpectedly find happiness wherever you go.

  1. Charity

Charity and service of others will give you tremendous amounts of joy. When you dissociate yourself from your own life and start to pay attention to others : you really become aware. You gain knowledge, you gain insight and you gain perspective.

You become more conscious of your blessings and the miracles of Allah (s.w.t). Along with that, you get to make someone else smile. And through that act of charity and service, regardless of how big or small it is, you are essentially making Allah (s.w.t) happy. It’s the butterfly effect : a small action causing a existential change in good.

  1. Letting Go

Holding on to painful things and negative moments are merely holding you back. The idea of holding on is something I know all too well. We want to hold onto the memories and the moments that gave us such joy. But life is all about adapting and progression.

And happiness is all about taking all that we are given, through circumstance, and making it into something positive. Therefore, all of those negative moments and memories that once haunted us. We need to let it go into the wind.

Let the moment pass and let us rejoice in the new. It is all about taking what we held onto for so long, gain perspective and let it go and let it be. Allah (s.w.t) knows best and He plans our destiny perfectly. So why dwell on something that was definitely going to happen?

  1. Self-Awareness

Being aware of yourself is what will differentiate you from being happy to being miserable. Self-awareness refers to a state of being completely conscious of your mind, body and soul. This means being aware with where you are in life, how you look, how you feel and how you react to life.

From there, it is all a process of accepting these facts. Accepting it all and allowing it to take its course. Whatever happens was meant to happen, and it will happen. Regardless if we want it to happen or not.

Hopefully what can result from this is being satisfied and content on where you are. Once you have accomplished that ideal, everything else seems irrelevant. And you just gain happiness.
