Attitude defines a better character than your accomplishments

Attitude defines a better character than your accomplishments

Posted by ZAAHARA .COM on

Character is probably the most difficult criterion to define.

To begin with, what is character? Or even, how do you measure character? Could it be the things you have done, the goals that you have achieved, the compliments you are given or perhaps the awards that you received?

Are the accomplishments that you get throughout your life define your character? If it were so, then only the good characters would be rich, successful people who live in the biggest houses with the most lavish lifestyles.

However, that is most definitely not the case. People who are rich in character are not necessarily the ones who seem to be the most successful.

Accomplishments are our goals, our objectives and our visions. It is not a direct representation of reflection of who we are. It is what we receive and work towards.

Just because you are blessed with an abundance of accomplishments, it does not mean you have a better character than those who are less fortunate in accomplishments.

There is no correlation between accomplishments and character; they are two separate things. Do not look at a man or woman who is very accomplished and believe that they are a better character than you. Accomplishments give you value in experience, not value in character.

Character is who you are. Character is how you uphold the principals of ethics and morality. It’s how you stand up for yourself and what you believe in. Character is how you treat others. Treating them with respect and kindness. Having character is being cooperative and demonstrating high standards of honesty and reliability.

Character does not have a direct correlation, neither a correlation at all, with accomplishments. Character is not what people think or say about you. It is not about the clothes you wear or the brands you own. It is not about the country you come from or the language you speak, it’s about what is within yourself.

Remember, character is not something that you were born with, it is something that you develop throughout your life. You create your own character by the choices you make. Your character is your responsibility. Your character is your attitude. Your attitude towards life, towards people, towards situations.

Character is what you can take with you throughout your life. No matter the hardship, no matter the situation : you will always have your character. Most of the time, that is how people remember you as : your character.

A person can be well-accomplished and have a good character or a person can be poorly accomplished and have a good character. The same applies to the other situation where a person can be well-accomplished but with bad character or a person can be poor accomplished with a good character.

No matter what happens in life and no matter the opportunities that we may or may not get, always opt to be a good character. Because in this world, we can lose jobs, degrees, licenses, wealth, materialistic items and more but we can never lose who we are. We can never lose our character.
