With the blazing heat from the great big ball of fire we call the Sun beating down on us, we Malaysians, hit the malls to find entertainment where the coolness of the air conditioner relaxes us and the glamorous stores excite us. Though, only the best malls give a one hundred percent satisfaction with high fashion stores and beautiful architecture to their shoppers. In the Klang Valley, there are 10 malls that are said to be the best.
The first mall on the list is none other than Suria KLCC. Situated at the base of the sky scraping Petronas Twin Towers, this mall is the height of luxury shopping with world renowned names in the fashion industry strewn around the marble floors. For foreigners on vacation, the mall has a world-class aquarium called Aquaria KLCC and a science discovery centre called Petrosains to visit. It is also a very convenient mall to go to as there is a light rail transit (LRT) station nearby.
The second mall on the list is Pavillion Kuala Lumpur Shopping Mall in Bukit Bintang. 1.37 million square feet of extravagance, this is definitely a mall to go to and you can do so by going on trains or busses which can get you to stations mere footsteps away from the shopping haven. It has over 550 outlets to spend your money at and if you ever get bored, you can either sing your heart out at Red Box Plus which is a karaoke place or you can beautify yourself at the many spas in the Beauty Hall.
Inspired by the ancient Egyptians, Sunway Pyramid was built to resemble a pyramid with a humungous sphinx sitting in front of it and hieroglyphs adorning its exterior walls. It is said to be the only mall that has an ice skating rink that is open to the public and where ice hockey games are often played.
With back to back events in September itself, The Gardens mall is where you would want to go to for a real upper class shopping. High quality brands like Thomas Sabo, Burberry, Gucci and Louis Vuitton can be found in this green and wood decorated mall. In order to gain more benefits from the mall such as exclusive parking services, discounts and invitations to the aforementioned events, you can sign up for a membership in The Gardens Club.
The fifth best mall is 1 Utama Shopping Centre. This mall is so huge that its two wings, the old wing and the new wing, can seem like two separate malls! In the new wing itself, there are four different zones to help shoppers navigate. It even has a five star hotel named One World Hotel that is connected to the mall by a bridge.
Low Yat Plaza Shopping Mall is a one stop shop for every kind of gadget you can think of. In its twelve storey building, you can browse through its many stores to find the latest device that best suits your liking. You can also keep updated on what’s hot on the technology market by going to its roadshows and IT fairs.
A family mall named Star Avenue Lifestyle Mall is next on the list. This mall basically has everything you need. It has about sixteen categories for its stores with a new entertainment category coming soon. The events held at this mall are for families to entertain themselves and buy home items for an affordable price.
Sunway Velocity, Cheras comes in eighth on the list with a fancy modern architecture. It has four precincts to cater to all the shoppers’ needs and it is also easy to reach by roads, LRTs and MRTs. For parent shoppers, there is a VeloKiddie club they can join to let their children enjoy activities under the watchful eyes of VeloTroopers.
The next mall would be KL Gateway Mall, Bangsar South. This mall is not only shopper friendly in a sense that it is connected to you by various roads and public transportations, it also provides free Wi-Fi, a nursing room for parents to care for their babies, a concierge that has baby stroller services and wheelchair services as well as lost and found services. Valet parking will be coming soon to further aid shoppers.
If you are looking for a real fun shopping mall to hit to hang out with friends, then look no further than Berjaya Times Square. This mall houses the biggest indoor theme park in Malaysia! So you can ride on the rides without ever worrying if it is going to rain. In addition to that, the stores here all sell items with reasonable prices.
