With the world currently moving forward consistently in terms of technology and globalisation, one cannot deny that even Muslims have been swept up by the winds of change.

There is no doubt that majority of the people living in the 21st century are now always on their phones, tablets and laptops.

Muslims are not excluded from that majority. We’re always checking our phones for Whatsapp messages, Facebook notifications and the latest Instagram posts from our favourite Insta queens.

But what of something not so worldly? What about checking up something more religious and more Islamic? This time around, we’re gonna look at the top 20 Muslim apps that have taken the Islamic world by storm.

  1. Seerah App

First and foremost, we have the Seerah App. This app is indeed an innovative and creative creation that combines technology and Islamic stories. The app is a story telling one that basically introduces Muslims old and young alike to the story of our Prophet Muhammad from his birth and so on. There are even games and animation that help the users learn more about the Prophet’s life. This is definitely an app you would want to download for a better understanding of our beloved Prophet’s life.

  1. Qur’an Academy

Another app would be the Qur’an Recitation, founded in New York, US. This is the app for you if you are interested to memorise the Quran. This app was discovered by Bilal Memon, a Quran Hafiz in 2014 and the app is one created for those who want to memorise the Quran in a more interactive and fun way. The app includes a gamification and audio recitation feature that will help Muslims anywhere to start memorising the Holy Book.

  1. Noor Quest app

The next app on our list is the Noor Quest app which is another educational, kid friendly app that was designed for kids who have an interest in astrological studies. Basically, kids can go through an adventure with the Muslimnauts (Muslim astronauts) and help protect a “space mosque”. This app is a fun and great way to teach your kids the values of being a good Muslim.

  1. Tarjimly

Tarjimly is an app founded by Atif Javed and it is one that is created for a good cause. Born of the need to help Muslim refugees, this app is dedicated to translating the stories of refugees arriving in the US, yet struggling to live a normal life due to the Muslim ban. Atif Javed has mentioned that they are trying to solve this problem by eradicating language barriers and has over a thousand and two hundred translators working for the app.

  1. Islamic GPS

The fifth one on our list is the Islamic GPS. Founded in London, this app is one that allows you to “see” awe inspiring Islamic heritage sights all over the globe. In order to “experience” the view, all you have to do is hold up your phone and turn around whichever way you want and suddenly you’re transported to that place itself. Talk about cool.

  1. Zabihah

Next we have a Halal Food app known as Zabihah. This app even has a website known as Zabihah.com and it is one of the most original apps ever but is still considered the best out there. This is the app you need if you are a Muslim who has caught the wanderlust bug. As a traveller, you would definitely want to try the local cuisine and what better way than to find it and eat it too? All you need to do is download this app, take it out when you need to find a Halal eatery, shake your phone a couple of times and voila – a nearby restaurant serving Halal food.

  1. MuzMatch

We’ve all heard of the (in)famous dating app Tinder and OkCupid but what about a matchmaking app for Muslims specifically? Enter MuzMatch, an app dedicated to uniting people to find their soulmates and build a masjid. This London founded app has truly been a successful one as they have managed to get three thousand people happily married and they have over one hundred forty-five thousand members all across the globe. This is one app that has a massive amount of users coming in at a hundred and fifty thousand over ninety countries who use it.

  1. Mengaji

There is also a home grown app known as Mengaji created by Ariz Ramli known otherwise by his rapper name Caprice. This is the best app for South East Asians to use to recite the Quran as it is an app that truly connects people. It reaches out via an interactive, social media like way that helps build rapport and a sense of unity amongst Muslims while they strive to recite the Quran.

  1. Salam

Wishing salam to people as a form of greeting is basically a universal thing for Muslims all over the world. So it’s completely understandable how there’s an app out there called Salam . 1. Souqina

Let us now move on to the next app on our list and that is the Canadian based Souqina. Another app that sells modest clothes, Souqina has a look and feel similar to Instagram but it is way more practical to an online shopper or seller. With this app, customers can buy the clothes they want directly from the designers themselves. How convenient is that? Definitely an app for those who love to shop for clothes.

  1. Islamophobia Reporting

Whilst the country we live in right now may be accepting of Muslims, it is unfortunately not the same as other countries out there in the world. Because of the ever prevalent Islamophobia spreading out like a dark plague over the US, Australia and Europe, there has been a need to create an app called Islamophobia Reporting. This is an app designed to collect information and analyse the situation where Islamophobia occurs and to discover its impact on Islamic communities.
