The Prophet (peace be upon him) once said,” The son of Adam will not be dismissed from before his Lord on the day of Resurrection until he has been questioned with five things:
- His life and how he spent it;
- His youth and how he used it;
- His wealth and how he earned it;
- How he disposed his wealth;
- How he acted upon what he acquired of knowledge
Having gone through this hadith, let us take some time and contemplate of where we are right now. Perhaps we are no longer in our youth and thus let’s focus on no. 1,3,4 and 5.
No. 2 might have passed if we are 30’s and beyond. We can’t regret as we can’t change our pass. But, we have 4 more points for us to ponder and step up our game to become a true believer.
To be a good believer of Islam, Allah has mentioned about how we should be spending our life. Isn’t it great where Allah the Lord has given us the guideline on how we should lead our life? Imagine you go to work and there’s no SOP or guidelines? Lost! That will be the answer for sure.
When I look at point no. 5, I noticed that Allah is very fair to all His creation to the extent of someone who has acquired knowledge will be asked of what he or she does with that. Imagine if you have so many knowledge and you did nothing with it, it be something that Allah doesn’t like. Or else, Allah wouldn’t be so concern about this.
I myself when I know this, I have always make a point to share whatever knowledge that I have acquired as I know Allah will bless me with more knowledge if I can keep on sharing to others. However, my fear is whether can people consume the knowledge that I share? Wallahualam.
Looking at point 3 and 4 in regards to wealth accumulation and also how it is being spent, this is a point where everyone needs to take a serious note. We have been taught to accumulate wealth but we are not taught on how important it will be on judgement day whereby Allah will really scrutiny that wealth. Allah Akbar! May Allah bless us and protect us from being Muslims who are not grateful with our wealth.
